True confession: I’m a tea hoarder. If you look in my pantry, you’ll find boxes upon boxes of flavored teas. Whenever I see an interesting flavor or a new brand, I just have to give it a try. And like wine, I’m a sucker for pretty labels.
Harney & Sons recently sent me a few beautiful tins of their teas to try in Peppermint Herbal, Paris, English Breakfast and Hot Cinnamon Spice.
I was headed off on a trip so I packed a few of the sachets in my suitcase. One thing I’ve learned in all of my travels is never go somewhere without teabags. I can’t stand the coffee provided in many hotel rooms so having a great tea in the morning is a nice change of routine. (And as it turned out, on the second day of my trip, my hotel room was not stocked with coffee pods but thankfully, I had my Harney & Sons tea sachets with me.) And I never board a flight without a few teabags in my carry-on – it’s a flavorful way to hydrate.
The Harney & Sons peppermint herbal tea was a great way to wake up my senses and start my day. The mint flavor had a nice little kick to it and it was a welcome change from the harshness of the bold dark coffee I normally drink.
I normally wind down my night with a glass of wine. And I did. But since I don’t always sleep well in hotels, I opted for a cup of chamomile tea to help me doze off, especially sinceI was up late writing. I’m not gonna lie…I think I slept a little better that night.
I wasn’t familiar with the Paris blend, but the Harney’s website gives an enticing description: “Mike Harney has enjoyed many a pot of tea in the famous Parisian tea shops. In homage to the city, he created what’s become one of Harney & Sons’ most popular and beloved blends worldwide. Paris is a fruity black tea with vanilla and caramel flavors, and a hint of lemony Bergamot. The aroma is delightful!
Ingredients: Black tea, oolong tea, black currant flavor, vanilla flavor, bergamot oil, caramel flavor.”
This just might be my new go to mid-afternoon pick-me-up. It had such an earthy flavor with warm spices and smelled amazing!
